Brand entity

Brand entity explained
Ask an AI engine who your brand is. If it answers with the wrong category, an old founder name, or someone else's company with a similar name, you do not have a resolved brand entity. Everything downstream, including recommendations, gets less reliable from there.
Building one is mostly consistency work: one canonical name, one description, one address, one set of social profiles, Organization schema on every page, and the same story repeated by independent sources. Half-finished rebrands are the single biggest cause of confused brand entities in Indian D2C.
The payoff is that models stop hedging about you and start recommending you, because confidence is a precondition for a recommendation.

Three things you can test this week
None of these need a tool or a vendor. They take an afternoon and they tell you whether brand entity is actually your problem.
Our own measurement method, with its definitions and stated limits, is published on the method page.

The definition is the easy part
Knowing what a term means takes five minutes. Knowing whether it is your problem takes an afternoon, and knowing what to do about it takes a method.
Every glossary page here ends with three checks you can run yourself and the primary sources behind them, because a definition you cannot act on is trivia.

Brand entity: common questions
How do I test my brand entity?
Ask four engines who the brand is, what it sells, where it is based and who founded it. Compare the four answers with each other and with your site.
What if two brands share our name?
Differentiate hard on category and location signals, and make sure every profile you control disambiguates explicitly.
Does a Wikipedia page help?
It helps if it is genuinely notable and independently written. Attempting one without notability wastes months.
