Knowledge graph

Knowledge graph explained
Google's version powers knowledge panels. Wikidata is the open version that many systems, including several LLM pipelines, read from. When your brand exists in these graphs with consistent attributes, models answer questions about you with more confidence and fewer errors.
Getting in is not a purchase. It is corroboration: a consistent name and description on your own site, matching details on your official profiles, coverage on sources the graph already trusts, and no contradicting variants floating around from an old rebrand.
For Indian brands the fastest wins usually come from cleaning up marketplace and directory listings that carry stale addresses or old brand names.

Service that owns this work: Entity and Schema Engineering
A knowledge graph is a database of entities and the relationships between them, used by search and AI systems to decide what a name refers to and what is true about it.

Every term here links to the service that owns the work and the tool that measures it.

Three things you can test this week
None of these need a tool or a vendor. They take an afternoon and they tell you whether knowledge graph is actually your problem.
Our own measurement method, with its definitions and stated limits, is published on the method page.

The definition is the easy part
Knowing what a term means takes five minutes. Knowing whether it is your problem takes an afternoon, and knowing what to do about it takes a method.
Every glossary page here ends with three checks you can run yourself and the primary sources behind them, because a definition you cannot act on is trivia.
Primary sources
Primary documentation for the mechanics described on this page. All published by the organisations that operate the systems in question.

Knowledge graph: common questions
How do I get a knowledge panel?
Consistent entity signals plus at least a few independent sources describing the brand. There is no submission form that guarantees it.
Does Wikidata help with AI answers?
It helps with identity resolution. It is not a magic citation, and self-serving edits get reverted.
What breaks a knowledge panel?
Rebrands done halfway, duplicate profiles, and address changes propagated to some listings but not others.
