People Also Ask explained

PAA is free question research with attribution attached. The questions shown are real ones the system associates with the query, and the answers are extracted the same way snippets are. Covering a cluster of PAA questions on one page tends to lift the whole cluster.

It is also a preview of AI answer coverage. If your competitors own the PAA answers in your category, they are usually the same brands appearing inside AI Overviews for the same topics.

The method: harvest the questions, group them by intent, answer each in its own block with a heading, and mark up the page with FAQPage schema.

People Also Ask is the expandable list of related questions on a Google results page, each opening to an extracted answer from a ranking page.

One definition is worth more than ten opinions

Every term here links to the service that owns the work and the tool that measures it.

Check it yourself

Three things you can test this week

None of these need a tool or a vendor. They take an afternoon and they tell you whether people also ask is actually your problem.

01
Harvest the PAA questions for your five most commercial queries.
02
Group them by intent and answer each in its own block with a heading.
03
Check whether the brands owning those answers are the same ones appearing in AI answers. They usually are.

Our own measurement method, with its definitions and stated limits, is published on the method page.

How we work

The definition is the easy part

Knowing what a term means takes five minutes. Knowing whether it is your problem takes an afternoon, and knowing what to do about it takes a method.

Every glossary page here ends with three checks you can run yourself and the primary sources behind them, because a definition you cannot act on is trivia.

FAQs

People Also Ask (PAA): common questions

How many PAA questions should one page cover?

Six to ten related ones. Beyond that the page loses focus and starts competing with itself.

Does FAQ schema guarantee PAA inclusion?

No. It helps machines read the structure. Inclusion still depends on the page ranking for the topic.

Are PAA questions good prompt set material?

They are a good starting pool, but rewrite them into the way a person would type into a chat window, which is usually longer and more specific.
