Citation content is not blog content
Retrieval systems quote passages, not pages. Here is how to write blocks that survive being pulled out of context.

The unit is the passage, not the page
Retrieval systems split pages into chunks and index the chunks. Your page does not get retrieved. A section of it does. If your best answer sits in paragraph nine and depends on context from paragraph two, it gets pulled out with the context missing and loses to a cleaner competing chunk.
Write sections that make sense read alone. Name entities in full rather than as it or they. Put numbers, units and dates inside the same block as the claim they support.
- One hundred to three hundred words per block
- Self-contained, no pronouns pointing outside
- Numbers with units and dates attached
What actually gets quoted
Original data first. Your own numbers, clearly attributed, with a stated method. Almost nobody in Indian D2C publishes any, which is why it is the cheapest differentiator available.
Then definitions, comparisons, and process explanations where you can state a trade-off honestly. Marketing adjectives are never quoted, because a grounded system cannot source them.
The E-E-A-T part everyone skips
Experience. Pages written by nobody, about a product the writer never used, with no photographs of their own, read exactly like the thousands of pages an AI can now generate for free. That is the content that stops being retrieved.
Named authors with real credentials, dates on every page, your own photographs, and a stated methodology for any claim. A system that names a source is exposing itself to that source's reliability, so it leans towards pages that look accountable.
A workable publishing standard
Every page: one question per heading, the answer in the first fifty words, a named author, a visible date, and at least one number that came from you rather than from someone else's report.

How to write content AI engines will cite: common questions
How long should a citable block be?
Roughly one hundred to three hundred words that make sense read on their own.
Does adding statistics help?
Yes, when they are yours and clearly attributed with a method. Original data is the most citable content a brand can publish.
Do dates matter?
Visibly. Undated pages lose to dated ones on anything that looks time sensitive.
