Entity and Schema Engineering

If four AI engines describe you differently, you have an entity problem

The test takes five minutes. The fix takes a quarter. Everything else in AI search depends on it.

01

The five minute test

Ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google the same four questions: who is this brand, what does it sell, where is it based, who founded it. Compare the four answers with each other and with your own site.

If they disagree, or one is confidently wrong, you do not have a resolved entity. A model will not recommend a company it cannot describe with confidence, so this caps everything downstream.

02

Why Indian D2C brands fail it specifically

Many started as manufacturers or traders and moved to D2C later, so the public record is a GST listing and a marketplace storefront rather than a company story. Others rebranded halfway, leaving old names and old addresses scattered across directories nobody has touched in years.

Neither is a content problem. Both are consistency problems.

03

What the fix involves

One canonical name and description used everywhere. Organization and Product schema that resolves to the same identifiers. Matching details on every profile you control, including marketplaces and directories. Then independent corroboration, because schema declares the claim and other sources are what make it stick.

Cleaning stale marketplace and directory listings is usually the highest-yield single task, and it is the one nobody wants to do.

  • Canonical name and description
  • Organization and Product schema
  • Profile consistency everywhere
  • Independent corroboration
04

What good looks like

A knowledge panel that exists and is correct. Four engines that agree on the basics. And a measurable drop in hedged answers, where a model says it does not have information about the brand.

FAQs

Entity SEO for Indian D2C brands: common questions

Does schema alone create an entity?

No. Schema declares the claim. Independent sources repeating the same claim is what makes it stick.

How long does entity work take?

Schema and on-site consistency ship in about three weeks. External corroboration and knowledge panel changes usually take sixty to a hundred and twenty days.

Do we need a Wikipedia page?

Only if the brand is genuinely notable by their standards. Attempting one without notability wastes months and often gets reverted.
